STRESS FREE HOLIDAY HOSTING TIPS

The stress of the impending holiday season is enough to take an experienced host out of their Thanksgiving turkey, tryptophan-induced coma and turn them into a Christmas- crazed, Black Friday maniac. With these helpful hints, avoid the craziness of the masses and retain your sanity.

  1. Delegate! Although hosting the perfect holiday celebration may feed your ego, it may also provide you with sleepless nights before the big event. Don't be afraid to delegate tasks. Send your spouse to the store with a list of last minute items; have your kids vacuum and clean up around the house. When a guest asks what they can help you with or brin, ask them to bring a plate of food or some fresh fruit and vegetables so you can cut them up and have some  healthy options readily available while you cook and get organized in the kitchen.
  2. Watch the clock. If you know the post office or the grocery store becomes chaotic at 4:30 pm every afternoon, plan your trips accordingly. Avoiding long lines, impossible parking times and crazed holiday crowds will help you keep your cool. If you cannot fit these tasks into your schedule at any other time, see tip number one! Delegate tasks out so you don't feel burdened with everything.

You Don't Have Time To Eat Healthy? I Have A Solution!

You Don't Have Time To Eat Healthy? I Have A Solution!

YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO EAT HEALTHY? I HAVE A SOLUTION!

I grew up eating very healthy with my family- typically a meat, veggies and potatoes on the dinner table each evening. Not many sweets except for home baked desserts.

But then, I grew up, started to work long hours, travel, be a student, get a new job, and healthy eating was never a priority and if it was, I was too busy, didn't have access to the healthy foods I should be eating or didn't have time (or was too lazy) to prepare healthy meals every day.

My health suffered, and my tummy suffered. I had terrible stomach pain, and had to take a long time to heal, recharge my batteries and my health.

Today- I am feeling great! And much of that improvement is from Juicing. Juicing is a fantastic way of getting tons of fruits and veggies into your diet. You can toss in such a variety of foods, drink it up and be good to go for the rest of the day. My husband and I included this habit in our day quite a few years ago now- and it has made such a difference to my tummy troubles.

A Sugar Free Halloween? Yes! It's Possible!

Its that time of year- children are picking out their Halloween costumes and getting ready to paint their faces and score some treats from their neighbors.

I remember painting, creating, and thinking about my costumes long and hard. Its such a fun time of year, and such a great activity to get those little creative minds working.

One thing that I can't get over- in every store- is the wall to wall shelves of candy! Its everywhere, in grocery stores, pharmacies, hardware stores and everywhere you turn. In this day and age, we KNOW sugar is bad for us, so why do we do it to ourselves? Well, its fun, its colorful, it tastes great, and.... its tradition. Halloween is the time of year when you score as much candy as you possibly can, right?
