GINGER HIBISCUS ICED TEA RECIPE

Since you all loved my Sparkling Lemonade Recipe (click if you didn't see it yet), I thought I would share with you another warm weather favorite of mine. This recipe was from my mother in law, and gets tweaked a little bit each time I make it.

One of my favorite summery drinks- and oh so easy! Summer patio drinks don't have to be sugary or alcohol filled. Here is my simple recipe:

Put down that Chocolate bunny and step away!

Put down that Chocolate bunny and step away!

PUT DOWN THAT CHOCOLATE BUNNY AND STEP AWAY!

Is it time to admit you have had ENOUGH chocolate eggs, bunnies and chicks? For many people, the sugar roller coaster has made for a very long weekend.

Sugar can be very hard on our bodies, in many ways. There are studies which report the average American consumes well over 100 pounds of sugar per year!!! Aside from our regular daily intake, holiday weekends like this don't help with our healthy eating plans. If you need some convincing to toss the rest of that chocolate away, here's just a few tidbits on sugar.

  1. Our blood sugar levels need to remain fairly constant for our livers and other organs to function properly. When we eat refined sugars(sweets, candy, white sugar), it will raise blood sugar levels and help us to feel good. The liver and pancreas will try to decrease the sugar to a safer level, then this resultant drop in blood sugar results in a craving for even more sweets. Its a cycle, and a bad one.

IT'S SPRING! 6 SIMPLE STEPS TO A FRESH START

Happy Spring! Today is the beginning of birds chirping, snow melting and (hopefully) peeling those extra layers off soon. Here are 6 Simple Steps to giving yourself, and your home a fresh, clean start this spring.

  1. Clean out your fridge - From old leftovers to expired bottles of who knows what. Pull everything out of your fridge, give it a good wash, and be mindful as you put things back inside. Now is a great time to get rid of those sweet treats that you were hiding out over the winter, and make room for all kinds of fresh fruits and veggies soon to be found at your local market.
  2. On the next sunny afternoon- open up those windows! Stale, dry air that has been circulating around your house all winter can now be aired out. Fresh air, sunshine, and a light breeze is perfect to help get rid of all that recycled air.
