17 Top Tips To Be More Productive

How often do you get to the end of the day, exhausted but felt that you haven’t been productive or achieved anything? 

Your to-do list is longer than when you started your day and then the excuses start…‘I couldn’t get this done today because… OR I didn’t have time to do that because…’ 

Being more productive can be as simple as getting out of your way and not sabotaging yourself. So, let's stop making excuses and saying "I'm too busy" and get started with working smarter, not harder.

Here are the 17 “no excuses” ways to be more productive (and not just busy) every single day:

  1. Clear out the clutter - Make sure that the space that is intended for productivity, whether that’s your office, the kitchen or anywhere in your environment that requires you to Get Stuff Done, is neat and organised.

  2. Use positive self-talk - Don't let that inner negative voice get the better of your day.

  3. Make your goals manageable - not unrealistic and unreachable.

  4. Create your goal list the night before. Remember to check them in the morning before you start your day.

  5. Create a priority list, not a "To Do" list. Check them off as you go - it's super rewarding!

  6. Design a plan for repetitive tasks - create a system that gets them done quickly and effectively. You could even outsource these tasks and free up time for the more important bits.

  7. Don’t multitask - Consider that doing multiple things at once causes you to do each task much more slowly and less efficiently than if you were to just focus on just ONE task - and do it well!

  8. Do your most important tasks before lunch. This is when we are most productive, so try to take advantage of the first few hours of your day.

  9. Get up an hour earlier. When you win the battle of the bed you create more time to be productive and once you master this habit, other key areas will fall into place.

  10. Identify activities and tasks that distract you or interrupt your workflow. By decreasing the time you spend getting lost in the rabbit hole, the more you will perform at your best.

  11. Avoid distractions - turn off your phone, put away the social media and place your email notifications on hold.

  12. Create a set routine - check emails in the afternoon and set aside a specific period to do social media. Don't spend all your time putting out fires.

  13. Focus on what you do best and delegate the rest, so you can optimize your productivity. 

  14. Celebrate the wins, big or small - focus on the positive and every day will feel like a good day.

  15. Drink more water. Did you know that being just mildly dehydrated can lower your work performance by 25-50%?

  16. Get an accountability partner - someone to help you stay on task and moving forward. 

  17. And finally… don’t say ‘yes’ to everything. ‘No’ is perfectly acceptable once in a while.

By implementing one or two of these tips you will boost your productivity and have time to not only Get Stuff Done but too have time for the things you want to do.
