10 Anti-aging Health Hacks

We get older every single day, and that’s not something we can change. BUT we can work with our body instead of against it to make aging more gradual.

SENESCENCE or biological aging is the gradual deterioration of functional characteristics. The word senescence can refer either to cellular aging or to deterioration of the whole organism.

But, despite Wikipedias definition of biological aging, don’t you think it’s about time that we should embrace it, rather than fearing it, and spending gobs of money trying to turn back the hands of time?

That said, if you’re motivated to live a full and healthy life as you age, then you might have to make some adjustments to your personal aging process, so you can spend more quality time doing the things you love

Here are 10 simple anti-aging “hacks” you can start trying to give yourself an edge over senescence!

Try as many of them as you can on a daily basis - and some of them, you might just NEED to do no matter what - like number 8!

There’s some extra reading at the bottom to help you tackle these hacks.

Stress and Your Adrenals- What Is Adrenal Fatigue?

Stressed? Tired? Craving sugar? Can’t sleep?

These are all common complaints from my clients, so maybe you have these problems too.

All of these can be related to the constant stress we feel in our lives. We know that stress can have a huge impact on our health and wellness. And, since your adrenal glands produce stress hormones, adrenal fatigue (or “HPA Axis Dysregulation,”) is a popular theme lately.

Your adrenal glands look like walnuts that live on top of both of your kidneys. These important glands produce many hormones, including stress hormones.

But what happens when they become “overworked?”

You’ve heard of “adrenaline junkies,” right?

Adrenaline and cortisol are the stress hormones that give you the commonly known adrenaline rush; when you're totally alert and living in the moment. This feeling is known as your body's "fight or flight" response.

Some people (perhaps you?) just love that intense feeling.

The release of hormones in the fight or flight response is your body's normal reaction to stress.  Stress can sometimes be positive, like when it helps you swerve and prevent a crash.

After a short time, the flight or flight response dissipates, your body goes back to normal, and all is good.

But what would happen if you felt constant stress? Like all day, every day? Like “chronic” stress?

Dining outside on a warm summer night is one of my favorite parts of the season - from picnics at the park to big backyard barbecue gatherings, many memories are made as we gather around a table to enjoy a meal alfresco.

Unfortunately, much of what we put out on the grill isn't so good for us.  If you're looking to host an outdoor barbecue with healthier options than the typical hot dogs, hamburgers, and ribs - take a look below for some tasty yet healthy suggestions.

Food Journalling- And Why You Need To Try It

Writing down everything you eat throughout the day can unlock so many clues as to what foods work best for you, and what foods may be negatively affecting you without you even realizing.

And it doesn’t have to be as hard as it may sound.

It can be as simple as carrying a small notebook around in your purse, or even as quick as downloading a Food Journaling app on your phone to keep track.  There are many great ones to choose from if you search for food journaling in your phone's app store.
