Intuitive Eating 101

Intuitive Eating 101

How many times have you started a diet only to feel miserable, and eventually give up, and then feel guilty for it?

Diets are usually associated with end goals, such as weight loss or muscle building, but they aren't sustainable in the long run, unfortunately.

There is an alternative to dieting that is much more natural, practical, and doable. This is the practice of intuitive eating. Intuitive eating is a higher quality way to view your relationship with food and doing so in a way that makes you feel good. Intuitive eating allows you to listen to your body and eat whatever makes you feel your absolute best rather than restricting food, counting calories, and following any diet "rules".

If you listen, your body will be able to tell you precisely what you need to thrive -- it just takes some practice learning how to tune in and listen for the cues.

Here are some ways that you can start eating intuitively.

How To Create The Perfect Salad

Are you creating the same boring salad every day? Don’t get me wrong I love a good salad, but what I love more is the perfect salad.

Salads seem to be everyone's go-to meal when they're trying to eat healthier. They're full of crunchy, colorful veggies, low in calories, and loaded with micronutrients. They are also easy to toss together for lunch, whip up for a simple and quick dinner, and there are so many different variations that it's hard to get bored of salads. This makes salads a perfect go-to meal -- they're excellent for filling up your body with a load of nutrients and not having that heavy, full feeling afterward.

Why Am I Always Hungry?

Why Am I Always Hungry?

Do you often feel like you are always hungry even though you know you shouldn’t be? Are you tired of eating salads?

If you do often feel hungry, you are not alone! There are many reasons to feel hungry. Of course, the most obvious one is that you are actually physically hungry. Maybe your stomach is empty, your blood sugar has dropped, and your hunger hormones are having a party. But other times, the hunger may not be actual physical hunger. It may be a craving or an emotional trigger. These are common reasons why some people eat too much. It could be brought on by a certain type of diet, stress, or other things going on in life.

It’s easy to mistake “psychological” hunger for “physical” hunger.

I’m going to talk about the difference between both of these types of hunger, and give you some tips on how to figure out which is which.

How To Read The Nutrition Facts Tables

How To Read The Nutrition Facts Tables

Have you ever wondered if you are reading the nutrition facts on food labels correctly?

Just in case you don’t know, the Nutrition Facts table is on the side of most packaged foods. It’s often found close to the ingredient listing. The purpose of it is to help consumers make better nutrition decisions. When people can see the number of calories, carbs, sodium, etc. in food, they should be able to eat better, right?

Whether you like the Nutrition Facts table or not, let’s make sure you get the most out of it, since it’s here to stay and you can use it to your benefit!
