Reduce Inflammation With These Key Foods

Inflammation. It’s not just for health headlines. It’s a fact and its quite common.

Scientists are measuring levels of inflammation in our bodies and finding that it can be pretty bad for our health; this is especially true when it's chronic (i.e. lasts a long time).

Inflammation has been linked to obesity, heart disease, Alzheimer's, and diabetes, just to name a few.

But, instead of writing all about what it is, how it's measured, and where it comes from; as we have discussed those topics in other blog posts and I have a few more to come out shortly, Today I am going to focus on some foods packed with anti-inflammatory antioxidants that are proven to help reduce it.

Here are my top anti-inflammatory food recommendations:

Sleep and Your Gut Bacteria

As a teenager, I was awake late, up early and tired all day. I just couldn't get it together. As an adult I started to sleep more and more, and before long I was getting a good 8-9 hours each night. Its not unheard of for me to even get 10-11 hours some nights. When I don't get enough sleep, I am grumpy, groggy and can't think straight. I find it very interesting to note, that with my tummy troubles I can the connection to how well I feel (or how bad I feel) after a nights sleep.

Circadian rhythms are patterns of brainwave activity, hormones, cell regeneration and biological activities that occur on a daily basis. And sleeping well at the right time each day is essential to keeping the circadian rhythms functioning properly so we function properly, too.

The fact that our microbes are actually the regulators of this function and that our sleeps patterns are an issue for our microbes should not surprise us. They need us to rest so they can do their thing while we sleep and keep their balance as it should be.

Too Much Acid Can Ruin Your Health

The very real dangers of excess acid

Eating an excess of acid-forming foods, such as sugar, refined carbohydrates, processed foods, dairy products and alcohol, can lead to ailments such as poor digestion, constipation or diarrhea, gout, osteoarthritis, leg cramps, bad skin, eczema, and even hypertension and heart disease.

Your risk of developing cancer is also greater because cancer loves acidic conditions. These acidic foods also lower the oxygen levels in the body which prevents proper cellular metabolism taking place, and leads to a serious lack of energy.

Too much acid also has a negative effect on the immune system and can lead to bacterial, yeast and fungi infections. Over acidity also robs the body of very necessary minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium. A shortage of these minerals can result in a loss of muscle mass and a deterioration of healthy bones and teeth.

This condition is also known as acidosis, and can be a devastating threat to your health.
