If you're a woman over 40 and you're heading into September feeling a little more exhausted than you'd like to admit, you're not alone.
Summer has a way of throwing routines out the window.
Later nights. Travel. BBQs and dinners out. Less regular sleep. More meals grabbed on the go. Maybe your usual movement routine disappeared somewhere along the way. And while you've probably enjoyed every minute of it, September can arrive with a very different feeling:
"Okay. I think I'm ready to get back on track."
And honestly? September might be one of the best times of the year to do it.
You don't have to wait until January to make changes to your health. September gives you a natural opportunity to slow down, regroup and rebuild some of the routines that help you feel your best.
The mornings are getting cooler. Local markets are full of beautiful seasonal produce. Summer travel is winding down. And there's something about the change of season that makes many of us want to get organized, get back in the kitchen and create a little more structure.
But a reset doesn't have to mean doing more.
In fact, sometimes the best reset is about doing less, slowing down and giving your body and mind a chance to catch up.

What would a half-day reset look like?
Imagine giving yourself just a few hours at home with no big agenda other than getting yourself ready for the season ahead.
You might start by stepping away from your phone, closing your computer and letting yourself have a little quiet.
Notice what's been running through your mind. Maybe you've been mentally carrying a dozen unfinished tasks, conversations or decisions. You don't have to solve everything. Just creating a little space from the constant input can help you feel less “on.”
Then make yourself something warm.
A cup of herbal tea. A nourishing breakfast or lunch. Maybe even a warm bath later in the afternoon.
There's something about warmth, quiet and slowing down that can send a very different signal to your body after a busy summer.
Next, turn your attention to your surroundings.
Do a little nesting.
Clean out your fridge. Toss the foods that have been sitting there all summer. Make a quick trip to the local market and bring home some fresh vegetables, fruit and other foods you enjoy. Wash and prep a few things so they're ready when you need them.
You don't have to spend the entire afternoon meal prepping.
Even having a few nourishing options ready to go can make the next few days feel easier.
And that is the whole point.
Healthy habits shouldn't leave you feeling like you have more work to do. They should help give you energy back.
Maybe you tidy your kitchen. Change a few things around your home to make it feel cozier for fall. Put out a few seasonal pillows or candles. Tidy the garden or trim back some flowers. Take the dog for a walk and enjoy the cooler air.
None of these things are complicated health interventions.
But together, they can create a feeling of transition.
You're closing the door on one season and making space for the next.

Give your nervous system a chance to catch up
After a busy summer, your body may need a little more than a clean kitchen.
Our nervous systems are constantly responding to what's happening around us. Screens, notifications, busy schedules, traffic, work, family responsibilities, conversations, noise and the mental list of everything we still need to get done can all keep us in a state of constant stimulation.
You may not even realize how much you're carrying until you finally stop.
That's why a reset can be as simple as taking a walk without your phone, sitting outside with a cup of tea, stretching for a few minutes, taking a warm bath or giving yourself an hour without emails or notifications.
You don't have to eliminate stress from your life.
You just need to create moments where your body gets the message that it is safe to slow down.
And movement can help, too.
This doesn't mean you need to jump straight back into an intense workout routine. A gentle walk, some stretching or simply getting outside can be enough to shift your internal state and break up the mental loops that have been running in the background.
Sometimes your body needs movement more than another hour of thinking.
Use September to rebuild the foundations
A half-day reset can be a wonderful way to pause and regroup.
But what happens after that?
This is where I think September becomes especially powerful.
Rather than trying to overhaul your entire life, think about the foundations that support your health every day.
How are you eating?
How are you sleeping?
How are you managing stress?
Are you moving your body?
Are you creating enough space for yourself?
And are you doing the things that support your immune health as we head into fall and the busier months ahead?
You don't need to change everything at once.
One small shift can create a ripple effect.
Getting back to regular meals may make it easier to nourish yourself well. Better nourishment can support your energy. More energy can make movement feel more appealing. Creating a consistent evening routine can help you prioritize sleep. And when you're sleeping better, everything else can feel a little more manageable.
This is why I don't believe your health needs another extreme reset.
It needs a foundation.
September is also a chance to get ahead
There's another reason I love September as a reset month.
The busy season is coming.
Before we know it, the calendar will fill up with Thanksgiving gatherings, Halloween activities, holiday events, shopping, travel and all of the other commitments that seem to appear between October and December.
If you wait until January to think about your health again, you may be starting the year already feeling depleted.
Instead, September gives you a chance to establish some supportive routines while you still have the motivation to do it.
You can get your kitchen organized.
You can find a few meals you enjoy making.
You can start prioritizing sleep again.
You can make time for movement.
You can find ways to manage stress before the calendar gets even fuller.
And you can start figuring out what actually works for you.
Because there is a lot of health advice out there.
You don't have to look very far before someone is telling you what to eat, what not to eat, which supplement you need, what workout you should be doing or what you absolutely must stop doing after 40.
The challenge isn't a lack of information.
Sometimes it's knowing what information to trust and how to turn it into habits that actually fit your life.
That's where having support can make such a difference.
A half-day reset is wonderful. Three weeks can take you much further.
Imagine what could happen if you took that same feeling of a half-day reset and gave yourself three weeks to build on it.
Not three weeks of restriction.
Not three weeks of trying to be perfect.
Not three weeks of following a list of rules you found online.
Three weeks of being guided through practical ways to nourish yourself, organize your routines, support your sleep and stress, and create healthy habits that can carry you into the rest of the fall and winter.
That's what I'm creating with my Fall Reset.
I've worked with hundreds of women on their health journeys, and I've seen over and over again that women don't necessarily need more information. They need a way to put the information into practice that feels realistic for their lives.
The Fall Reset is a live, three-week experience where I'll guide you through that process.
We'll focus on practical, nourishing strategies that can help you feel more refreshed and supported, rather than giving you another long list of things to do.
Because ultimately, I don't want you to finish a reset feeling like you've added more work to your life.
I want you to have more energy for your life.
